Adapting for the stage Liv Strömquist’s excellent comic strip “L’Origine du monde” (The Origin of the World), published by Rackham, Groupe Wanda seizes on the author’s impertinent inspiration to tackle with humor the history of violence, both symbolic and physical, against women.
The female sex was not only the famous “obscure object of desire”, it also aroused the “a little too keen” interest of certain notorious male figures, whose theories and diagnoses have had devastating consequences on women’s sexuality and their way of being in the world, even today.
