This year, we’re delighted to (re)discover The Artist, a masterpiece of modern cinema made in the spirit of silent film. An international phenomenon at the time of its release, the film won five Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor. With a black-and-white aesthetic full of charm and emotion, The Artist tells the story of a silent film star confronted by the arrival of talking pictures. Funny, touching and deeply poetic, this film is a vibrant tribute to the golden age of cinema.
To bring the screening to life, the film will be accompanied live by the trio “Le Bruit de la Pellicule”, a loyal partner of our ciné-concerts since the very first edition. These three artists have been collaborating with the Cinémathèque de Toulouse on various musical projects and film-concerts for several years. The music they create, nourished by the richness and diversity of their artistic backgrounds, is entirely conceived for each film. It finely matches the rhythm of the images, their emotional intensity, poetry and energy. Thanks to this sensitive, immersive approach, their performances offer audiences a unique cinematic experience. Today, the trio performs all over France, sharing their passion for this singular art form.
This ciné-concert is offered by the municipality as part of a cultural policy open and accessible to all, with the aim of offering moments of artistic discovery and sharing around cinema and music.
We look forward to seeing you at this convivial event, where cinema, music and emotion meet live.
