Family cycling along the Canal de Garonne

A lovely shady route punctuated by lock-keepers' houses, where you can pedal peacefully and safely.

There are several stops along the way:

  • The Tarn and Garonne leisure centre, where you'll find a great picnic and play area.
  • From the base you can extend your cycle route to the village of Saint Nicolas de la Grave, one of the oldest villages in the Tarn et Garonne.
  • Moissac and the canal bridge
  • Castelsarrasin and the Eiffel bridge
  • For the more courageous, continue to Saint Porquier to admire the locks and then the Pente d'Eau at Montech.

Urban walks

Stroll along the water's edge or explore the town centres of Moissac, Castelsarrasin and Saint-Nicolas. Ranging from 1 to 4 kilometres, these routes are ideal for a leisurely discovery while taking a break for a bite to eat, a snack or a play area!

The activities

Workshops at Moissac Abbey

Throughout the year, the team atMoissac Abbey create and offer workshops and activities in an exceptional setting. Numerous shows and concerts are also organised there.

Belleperche Abbey

From April to September, fun workshops are held every Wednesday afternoon at Belleperche Abbey.

At the end of September, during the Heritage Days weekend, one of the biggest events in the Tarn-et-Garonne region takes place: Les Médiévales de Belleperche.

The département also offers free shows and concerts throughout the year.

The Tarn and Garonne leisure centre

The leisure centre is a paradise for outdoor activities for all the family. 29 hectares of water, the largest in the south-west, are dedicated to canoeing, pedal-boating, sailing, rowing, etc.

It's also the perfect place for walks, picnics and bird-watching, with themed evenings organised every summer.
