Parvis de l'été - The Curious Bards « Extradition »
Description
This instrumental program offers a real immersion in 18th-century Gaelic culture.
Dancing being at the heart of the music of Ireland and Scotland, the ensemble has chosen to focus on the two most famous types of dance, both then and now: the reel and the jig. Ballads composed by Irish harpist Turlough O'Carolan, and singular pieces (such as this Highland Battle describing in music all the phases of a real Scottish battle!) will slip in between these frantic dances. All the pieces are taken from collections of melodies that represent one of the rare testimonies to the cultural heritage of an entire population.
From an Irish jig to a frenzied Scottish reel, you'll soon find yourself swept up in the Curious Bards whirlwind!
