L'île de Beaucaire
Description
The island of Beaucaire is a beautiful but fragile place. Classified as a sensitive natural site since 1995, the place attracts nature lovers and walkers. We can observe a lot of odonates (dragonflies), kingfishers, water hens, herons… But also a rich flora in particular aquatic flowers Of all the Moissagais natural sites, it is of course on Île Beaucaire that the arrival of spring is most felt. This 1.5 hectare strip of land which surrounds a 0.5-hectare dead branch of the Tarn has since 1995 become a nursery for many aquatic and bird species. A sensitive natural space (ENS), since then, this distinction which highlighted the strong biological and landscape interest of the site has been supplanted by the classification in the Natura 2000 zone since June 2006."
