Cordes-Tolosannes is a bastide (a walled town) founded in 1270 by Alphonse de Poitiers, overlooking the valley of the Garonne
In 1182, the Bishop of Toulouse gifted the Abbey of Belleperche with the church of Cordes. At that time, the name of Cordes (Cordua) appears and Belleperche becomes the owner.
