La Ville-Dieu-du-Temple
land of Knights Templar and vine

The town was founded in the 12th century. The templars set up a Commandery and started to deforest the land and use it for agriculture. In the 14th century, it came under the control of the Order of Malta which stayed until the Revolution closely linked with Castelsarrasin. The commander was the lord with rights of patronage.

The town organises a few interesting events during the year. In spite of the closing down of the wine co-operative, vines are still cultivated and the designation of origin remains to this date.
